What a Season it has been with the competition heating up right till the finals and still anyone can take the overall title in both the Seniors or Juniors division. But the talk has been all around the Wizards as they claimed the 2018 Juniors and Seniors Minor Premiership last week and undefeated through every round.
This obviously puts them as favourites heading in the finals but hasn’t diminished any other teams belief that they can still be beaten, if anything it has put a real target on their backs so they have to make sure they can get through the semi-final rounds first before we even talk about the grand final. A big mention also goes to how the Senior Tribe team finished off their season with such big scores posted against most of their last competitors. Tribe coach Michael Hyslop said “this was our plan all season to come in as underdogs into the final series”.

The match of the season has to go to the Juniors Heat vs Tribe match up in Round 10 where it came down to a shoot-out and had a total of 7 Re-races, 3 of which were in the shoot-out. The win eventually going to the Heat, many had goosebumps by the end of the match. Unfortunately only four teams can go through to the semi-finals which means the Wolves missed the cut in the Seniors, still securing themselves at least one win this season some are left thinking what could have been if they had a more consistent team turning up each week. And the Junior Vipers team which again having one win all season but coming so close to many more even the final match against the Wizards only determined by the last relay. This shows just how close of a competition it has been for the Juniors in the first year.

The semi-finals will be held at Warners Bay on August 11th kicking off at 2pm with the first Match being the Junior Wizards vs Tribe followed by Royalty vs Heat at 2.40pm then it’ll be the Seniors first Semi-final Wizards vs Vipers at 3.20pm finishing at 4.10pm with the Tribe vs Heat. Make sure you get along and support your favourite team.
